| An Important Discovery |
Several years ago, Graphene Technologies (GT) made an important discovery related to graphene – a process that enables synthesis of high quality, small aspect graphene at commercial scale and cost consistent with requirements in many application areas. GT's patents-applied-for process utilizes a highly exothermic reaction between Group I and II metals such as magnesium and carbon bearing gases including carbon dioxide. The ability to synthesize an advanced material through a controlled reaction of widely available and recyclable materials with a greenhouse gas represents a significant achievement both in terms of natural resource independence and in demonstrating that carbon dioxide is a resource, not a global warming waste product. Over the past 3 years, our scientists have produced some of the highest quality graphene reviewed by other experts in the field. GT has demonstrated the ability to synthesize large quantities of graphene efficiently with significant control of the purity and character of the graphene product. The GT graphene synthesis process is capable of producing graphene and other nano-materials tailored for specific applications. We have developed and are instantiating designs for production of single and multiple layer graphene in commercial volumes. GT's is focused on and production is presently dedicated toward working in collaboration with partners to develop graphene-based intermediate products for near term salient markets. Our team includes leading experts in carbon technology, advanced materials, organic chemistry, high temperature processes, electronics, and functionalization. In the coming year we expect to expand our team as well as our partnerships with leading companies, national laboratories and universities seeking to develop products and solutions exploiting the novel characteristics of graphene. Graphene Technologies has made significant investments to secure property rights for our work. An initial patent application was published by the USPTO in October 2011. GT's robust graphene synthesis process and intellectual property holdings combined with our strategy to develop and protect future advancements positions Graphene Technologies an emerging leader in graphene and graphene-based products.
